abstract

background diatomite coated by nanoparticles of copper and zinc mixed oxides were used to investigate catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide. objectives aim of this paper was to investigatediatomite performance as a supporting host to confine the cuo and zno nanoparticles and its catalytic activity for carbon monoxide oxidation. materials and methods the prepared catalysts were characterized by brunauer-emmett-teller (bet) surface area, scanning electron microscopy (sem) and x-ray diffraction (xrd). catalytic behavior for co oxidation was studied at different conditions in a tubular reactor packed with catalyst. results the results illustrated that diatomite is the promising candidate for catalyst support due to its unique characteristics. the variation of catalytic activity of the prepared composite catalysts withdifferent molar fractions of cuo and zno for co oxidation in different reaction temperatures was investigated. it was found that a co conversion of 100% can be achieved at 300 ºc over catalyst with 80 mol% cuo and 20 mol% zno content.

Catalytic oxidation of airborne toluene by using copper oxide supported on a modified natural diatomite

The catalytic oxidation of toluene over copper oxide supported on natural diatomite was investigated. The catalyst was prepared by the wet impregnation method and characterized by using the Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET), field emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and Temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) analysis. The highest catalytic ...

Catalytic Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide by Cobalt Oxide Catalysts Supported on Oxidized-MWCNT

Cobalt oxide catalysts supported on oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for the low-temperature catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide were prepared by an impregnation-ultrasound method. These catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption, TEM, XRD, Raman, and H2-TPR methods. The XRD and Raman results indicated that the phase of the synthesized cobalt...

Catalytic Synthesis of Methanol from Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide on a Copper-zinc Oxide Supported Catalyst

Most kinetic studies of methanol synthesis over Cu/ZnO catalysts have been carried out using mixtures of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. But in some cases (1) the synthesis gas has also contained carbon dioxide (2). Power rate laws as well as complicated rate expressions have been proposed over the years. The detailed kinetics of the surface processes is virtually unknown. With the exception, per...

اکسیداسیون کاتالیتیکی مونوکسید کربن با استفاده از نانوذرات اکسید مس تثبیت شده بر روی دیاتومیت

Background and aims: Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly toxic, colorless, and odorless gas with a density close to the air, which is produced by natural processes and anthropogenic sources and is well known for its potential harmful and poisonous effects on humans. Inhalation of carbon monoxide gas can impair the heart and central nervous system. Diatomite supported nano copper oxide catalyst w...
